Derek Nelson is a first-year Ph.D. student in Dr. Dane Crossley laboratory at the University of North Texas. Derek’s research focuses on the understanding the evolution of the cardiorespiratory function and exercise performance in pelagic fishes. In particular, Derek is interested in understanding how PAH exposure in juvenile and embryonic mahi-mahi impacts cardiovascular performance.
