Naim Bautista is a senior Ph.D. student and research assistant at the Developmental Physiology Laboratory at the University of North Texas. Under the mentorship of Dr. Warren Burggren, Naim’s research focusses on understanding how organisms respond and cope with environmental stressors using a multi-scale approach that embrace behavioral, morphological, physiological, histological, immunohistochemical and molecular techniques. His studies seek to determine the transgenerational implications of the responses of the parental generations on their offspring by epigenetic inheritance, and their implications for organismal survival during exposure to persistent stressors. For the RECOVER consortium he will continue looking to better understand the complex interrelationship between development, physiology and environment interpreting the findings under evolutionary context and with a touch of philosophy.
