Naim Martinez is a Mexican student who received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Baja California. He is now a Master’s student and Research Assistant with the Developmental Physiology Lab at the University of North Texas under the mentorship of Dr. Warren Burggren. Naim worked as a member of an Environmental Services Company which carries out projects for the Mexican Federal Government related to the impact of artisanal fisheries and industries on the marine and terrestrial wildlife respectively. For the RECOVER consortium, he is interested to test the effects of oil exposure on the developmental stages of fishes under Dr. Warren Burggren’s mentorship. With this research, they are looking to determine the critical windows of development in order to improve the understanding of how fishes are affected by the oil at different times during their development.
