Rachel Leads is a doctoral student in Dr. Aaron Roberts’ laboratory at the University of North Texas. Rachel received her M.S. in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC and her B.A. in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Albion College in Albion, MI. As an undergraduate student, Rachel studied the effects of the bacterium Wolbachia pipientis on Drosophila melanogaster development and behavior. For her master’s research, Rachel studied the origin, fate, and toxicity of microplastics in the marine environment. As a member of RECOVER, Rachel’s current research investigates the sub-lethal effects of oil exposure and UV radiation on marine fishes.
